MKBAA will measure its own carbon footprint

This year’s theme for the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards is ‘MK – Leading the UK’s Green Recovery – Survive, Revive & Thrive’ and to make sure that the event doesn’t just talk the talk – we are working with Compare Your Footprint to measure the carbon footprint of the event itself.

They will help us to measure data from energy, water and waste providers, travel to and from the event, suppliers used and much more to calculate the carbon usage. This will be used this year and in future years to make sure we can keep the event’s carbon footprint as low as possible.

Compare Your Footprint is a comprehensive and innovative carbon footprint reporting software, designed by sustainability experts. It empowers organisations of all sizes to calculate the carbon footprint of their entire operation to set science-based targets and accelerate the just transition to a low carbon, sustainable world.

Chair of MKBAA organisers Milton Keynes Business Leaders Partnership, Nicholas Mann, said, “With this year’s environmental theme we want to do everything we can to ensure our carbon footprint is as low as possible. This is the first time we have measured our carbon usage and means we can take positive steps this year and, in the future, to reduce usage further with the aim to eventually be a carbon neutral event.”

Head of Partnerships at Compare Your Footprint, Oliver Harrison, commented, “We are delighted to be measuring the carbon footprint of this award ceremony, including how guests have travelled to it! This year’s theme puts a spotlight on the need to reduce the environmental impact of everything we do as businesses. Make sure your organisation Survives, Revives and Thrives as we transition to a low carbon future.”
