Creativity helped architects stand out from the crowd
Milton Keynes is home to an amazing array of creative businesses, so standing out in a crowded marketplace can be very difficult. To go even further and win an award in that field takes a very special business. At the 2016 MK Business Achievement Awards, David Coles Architects (DCa) did just that, winning the Design & Creativity Award. It was a packed category with a huge number of entrants and a strong list of nominees.
DCa stood out as a forward-thinking practice working with clients to achieve desired outcomes and 'Add Value by Design'. They began trading 23 years ago and have flourished into a well-respected and highly regarded practice.
We caught up with Sheila Coles to explain why she thought they stood out to the judges, “Our experience spans residential, education, commercial, industrial, master planning and mixed use schemes, as well as leisure, public and community buildings. We are also specialist designers in sensitive conservation, urban and rural settings. “
“Our committed team is passionate about delivering inspirational buildings, and we are well positioned to continue to grow and embrace the ever-changing challenges of architecture in the future. We hope that a bit of that passion was felt by the judges when they gave us this award.”
The practice has undertaken a sustained programme of investment in the latest technology and continues to offer professional development to their team, ensuring they are well resourced to provide clients with good advice, well thought through design, efficient delivery and value for money.
Sheila continued, “We are proud to have won several awards for our projects, but winning the Design & Creativity Award at MKBAA in 2016 was a huge accolade for the practice. We couldn’t have started our business in a better place than Milton Keynes. The energetic and thriving business community has been open, welcoming and has provided huge opportunities for us. To have been recognised as an outstanding business in Milton Keynes has been an exceptional honour, of which we are very proud. It has strengthened our profile and has helped us secure new business and develop exciting plans for DCa’s future.”
And looking forward to the 2017 awards, Sheila had a message for all MK businesses, “Good luck to everyone who has entered, it truly is an honour to be nominated, let alone actually win. And have a fantastic evening on 9 March, we won’t forget the event in 2016 anytime soon.”
